The Twisted Sisters aka Terry Haslam and her best friend, Angie Hicks were created in the Y2K after being asked to play a friend’s birthday in a popular pub called The Snooty Fox in Highbury, London. The DJ set went down so well the owner of the pub asked Twisted Sisters to do a weekly Friday night residency, which lasted over two years.
Following on from the success in the pub (free dinners and a note or two), the Twisted Sisters were invited to play many venues such as Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club, the ICA, Egg, Camden’s Roundhouse, Blush bar, and so many, many house parties and pubs it became a blur. Not bad for two girls who simply put the needle on the record. Playing a party of 300 people on one deck at one time — no problem.
Then life lifed and the Twisted Sisters moved to different countries and agreed to take up the name Twisted Sister when solo and Twisted Sisters when together. Ang continues to play regularly, and Terry has been popping up at house parties in Spain where she now lives. A chance meeting with a certain person called The Bass Whale, over donkey poop in COVID times led Terry to TopCat Radio — where she will be creating a monthly transmission and podcast with The Bass Whale himself. Two very eclectic tastes in music, one love of playing music and laughing. Oh and bass, rhythm and dancing.
