Well being one of the only southern softies on TopCat, yes I’m a true cockney from the east end of London which gave me a great upbringing in music being able to see top live bands during the ’70s. In fact, my local pub had Status Quo playing regular gigs for free. I’ve always loved music, being a rock fan in my early years but now I have mellowed and I like most types of music.

Being a friend of Norman J it didn’t take long before I got involved in TopCat Radio quite by accident as, a visit for dinner at his house resulted in being greeted at the door “Quick I’ve got to take my wife to the hospital, you do my radio show!” Talk about getting chucked in the deep end! As it happens I was quite good at it. From that first show from a shed in Norman’s garden when I got back to the East Coast we set up my studio and broadcast three shows a week. Back then my radio name was Rocking Ricky but along came Rocking Ronnie so that’s when I changed to Tricky Ricky! A year later, an approach was made by Coastal Sound Radio in Skegness. I liked the idea of being local in a professional studio where I ended up being their top DJ and had over two happy years with them. But alas, the boss through ill health, pulled the plug without warning! But as they say one door shuts another opens and was welcomed back into the TopCat family — I’m really enjoying being back.
