In The Mix (LIVE) — Joint Chief
22:00–23:00 Thursday (Monthly — 3rd Thu, repeat — 1st Thu)

DJ Joint Chief aka Daniel O’Reilly has been collecting Drum & Bass and Jungle music since 2000, and brings a unique approach to DJing. Drawing from a broad musical spectrum, he creates intricate and atmospheric mixes that incorporate the genre’s signature rapid breakbeats, deep basslines, and layered, dynamic sounds. His mixes are characterized by their seamless transitions, which blend both the heavy energy of drum & bass with elements of experimental soundscapes, adding an element of unpredictability and creativity, resulting in sets that go beyond standard genre boundaries and offer listeners not just a dancefloor experience but also an emotional and sonic journey. His approach to mixing drum & bass is reflective of his broader artistic ethos, where he blurs the lines between music, art, and performance. He currently presents the monthly show In The Mix — The Drum & Bass Files on TopCat Radio, a local station in Tortosa, Spain, run by music enthusiasts. He can regularly be found DJing at events and parties in Catalonia.

Joint Chief is an artist who not only curates eclectic musical experiences but also redefines the role of the DJ as a creative force in contemporary culture. Working within the avant-garde art collective The Unstitute, Joint Chief blends surreal audio samples with field recordings—from locales such as India and North Africa—to construct ambient soundscapes that transcend traditional DJing. His performance, “Landscape With A Man Playing Turntables,” is a prime example of his ability to fuse experimental sound with visual art, creating a sensory journey that challenges the boundaries between music, art, and the subconscious.
