National Anthems — DJ Trev
22:00–23:00 Thursday (Monthly)
DJ Trev is a full time DJ; however he is also from time to time a paid writer, and in that capacity advises that you not to bother reading the rest of this bio.
Born at a young age, DJ Trev has been DJing for a living for 29 years, although there was that year and a half everyone in entertainment had off wasn’t there? Plus he usually has Mondays off so don’t feel bad for him.Having cut his teeth at legendary Harrogate Nightclub, Jimmy’s, in the 17th century, he plays lots of old music but likes to think he’s also in touch with contemporary developments. He’s wrong but let’s not tell him. Having legitimately supported acts as diverse as Napalm Death, N-Trance, Radio’s Scott Mills and a celebrity sheep shearer, when not writing about himself in the third person, DJ Trev likes to Star Wars.
DJ Trev has held residencies in Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Blackpool, Redditch, Mansford Thirty-Sixborough, and Wabznasm, and has played to all kinds of crowds and has only once been bitten in the face for not playing a song someone wanted quickly enough.
With a firm grasp of the complexities of DJ performance – beat matching, standing there nodding his head a bit, and twiddling knobs that don’t do anything – DJ Trev is as comfortable smiling politely whilst Ken from Accounts tries to describe his favourite ’90s trance record by singing the instrumental of it, as he is playing Fleetwood Mac for your nan, because she’s nice. For best results, Dj Trev’s sets should be listened to with the volume set at “OFF”. He plays everything from very mainstream pop, to classical music, jazz, folk, gabber techno and hardcore punk rock, though for these shows he’s almost certainly just talking over a Now That’s What I Call Dance 97 CD.
